The aim of this proposal is to analyse how the appropriation and resemanticisation of some concepts and words can be used maliciously to generate fraudulent or outright false stories. These narratives form a fundamental part of disinformation, along with fake news and other more well-known manifestations of disinformation. As George Lakoff points out, these linguistic and conceptual usages generate cognitive frames that contribute to a cognitive unconscious, supported by a self-interestedly imposed logic.
For this reason, this article proposes the analysis of a specific case: the word and the concept of concord. For this purpose, firstly, a linguistic and conceptual overview of this notion is carried out. Secondly, its reappropriation and resemanticisation within a specific context will be analysed: the draft law on concord in Castilla y León (Spain), presented on 26 February 2024. Through the process of resemanticisation, a semantic distortion is created and disseminates, establishing a cognitive frame and unconscious that, in turn, implies a manipulation and a historical redefinition that can be easily assimilated into the current landscape of disinformation.
